Hybrid and animated paintings
“C minor” is the result of my collaboration with composer and lead singer of System of A Down Serj Tankian. The idea of the collaboration came from our similar sensitivities of combining visual arts and music. Inspired by Serj Tankian's music I created animated paintings, while he composed original music based on my art.
This series of works include Hybrid and animated paintings. Working in a meditative way, my paintings and drawings are automated writings, where multiple layers create depth and movement.
Hybrid paintings mix conventional methods of painting and drawing with computer-generated art. The result is printed as one of a kind editions using pigmented ink on archival paper or aluminum. An animated painting is a painting that evolves gradually over the duration of the music, where the viewer can see many mutations of the work.
